Need help with my lt1!
Alright I sold my old camaro and bought a 94 z28 a couple of weeks ago. When I bought it it had a fiberglass ss hood on it (fully functional) but it the scoop is on the hood looks like the 98-02 camaro ss not the 93-97 its more rounded and not like sharp and strait looking like the 96 and 97 camaro ss the air ducts on the bottom of the hood have the nostrils coming out where it looks like an ls1 air intake should sit. I was wondering which air intake should I get for the best performance for my car, should I get the 96-97 ss air intake, the 98-02 air intake, or just keep my moroso cold air intake that I have on it right now, or is there any other air intake that I should look into. Note I am wanting the best performance I can get for my car.
Thanks in advance,
Chance

The 98+SS cars didn't have an airbox that sat on top of the engine like the LT1 SSs did (they used a lid setup). The LT1 SS airbox setup is a pretty poor design - not worth replicating.
Your Moroso is plenty.

Thanks for the advice ill take your word for it btw since my lt1 is mostly stock and I plan on it for just being a street car not really a strip car at all I was wondering if you had any advice on a cam I want one with a good lope and that's streetable I'm thinking about getting a pair of trickflow heads and either the lt4 hot cam or the gm 847 cam but the 847 seems like it may be a little too agressive for mostly a daily driver and I was wanting to sacrifice a lot of gas mileage for the cam.

Since you are MPG-conscious I would recommend the hotcam using stock heads. The Trick Flows are not applicable to what you're looking to do. The hotcam and stock heads are a good choice for someone looking to retain somewhat stock driveability while getting that little bit extra oomph.
The 847 is out of your league at this point - not worth it.
Keep in mind that you need all of the supporting modifications first before a hotter cam becomes worthwhile (you said yourself it's mostly stock).

Yeah I figured the gm 847 was a little too agressive for what I was looking for but I planned on getting those trickflow heads or just rebuilding the stock heads since my lt1 has 172k also I wanted some pacesetter long tubes and probly an slp loudmouth catback an lt4 intake bbk tb msd ignition 8.5 wires 1.6 rr maybe some 3.42's or 3.73 ( I think those might be a little too agressive for what I'm wanting right now) and either a 3k stall or takin out the A4 and putting an M6 in.

And I know doing all that work is gonna be a lot especially for an 18 year old but I worked at a machine shop for almost 2 years rebuilding motors so I'm pretty sure I'm plenty capable of doing it plus I'm still on good terms with my old boss and I know he will let me use his shop, machines, and tools to do all of it.
