Default Need some help!

Just finished putting everything back together after installing my LT and ORY. The last step I did was the positive to the battery and the starter was engaging. I went back to check the starter and make sure it was hooked up right and it was good. Tried the positive to the battery and it engaged again. What the hell could it be??

Where is the small wire conected too? It should not be touching the large batt cable and should be mounted on small post next to the big post.

Is it turning the engine over or is the starter motor just spining?

If I hold the positive to the negative, it sounds like the motor is trying to crank over but it wont start and yes the starter is spinning.

well... sorry this is a stupid question but is the key in it? If not with the batt DISCONECTED check and see what post you put the batt cable on.

sorry had to ask. Some how the starter is being energized. Either the bat cable at the starter is some how in contact with the solenoid wire or another problem in the key or wiring. I would say if it worked before and you didn't drop the starter then recheck to make sure both the bat cable and the solenoid switch wire are on the right posts. if it's turning the engine over that mean the noid is being engaged by either being stuck in an energized possition, is reciving power from the key or one of them is on the wrong post. You can always pull the starter out and bench test it if everything checks out. I have put the noid wire on the wrong post before but I always caught it before hooking up the bat so I can tell you exactly what it would do.

I had the same exact problem after my LT install. There are two wires that connect to the starter. If I remember correctly, there should be a thin purple/black negative wire with a flange and a larger red positive wire that screw into the back. The flange on the terminal of the negative wire should not face the positive wire's terminal or else it will make contact and spin the starter every time you connect your battery.

Long story short: check your starter wires and make sure they're not touching.

Also, it's not possible to mix up the positive and negative wires because they're two completely different sizes.

Guaranteed you have two posts on the starter touching in some way.

My bet is when you tightened the 12v cable to the starter the ring connector twisted and is now making contact with the solenoid post. Loosen the 12v connector and when tightening back down make sure the ring connector/cable stays at a 6 o'clock position.

Default Help

I'll give that a try. The other thing I need to know is, I deleted the AC and put the GM bypass pulley in place. Now I have alot of slack in the stock belt. I've been told that the belt should be fine or do I have to get a different size belt??

The tensioner has a guage on it that you would need to look at to tell if it is in range. I have never used the GM delete pully But someone will chime in.
