Good Bye HOT CAM...
I will always have respect for the Hot Cam but it's time to move on. One of my lifters collapsed on cylinder #6. The "spider tray" was bent in the process and caused the lifters to bounce on the cam flatting the rollers and scaring the intake and exhaust lobes pretty bad! I'm looking for a cam that will allow me to shift at 6400rpm. I also need a recommendation on a good timing chain set for the OLDER STYLE opti and electric water pump. Thanks...

What's your thoughts on the cc230/236? Anyone run this cam?

Depends on what you are looking for really. The 6300 shift point doesnt say much. Do you want your power low, middle, high etc?
I would suggest the cc 465. It makes gobs of low end torque, where you drive the most, it spins to @ 6000 rpm and has great driving characteristics. Of course and you didnt mention it but I will, you will have to change your springs no matter which cam you choose.

I got the 230/236 XE...good cam for a 350, but a got it in my 383. It got me over 400 hp and tq with my setup. Get you a good valve train and some head work, get a custom grind from AI or LE. I'd also stick with 1.6's like mentioned above.. Best thing to do is match your setup....bigger does not always mean better. IMO I made a mistake getting the 230/236

Hotcam served me well while the car was on daily duty for three years and still serves me well as a weekend warrior. Nitrous helps
But definitely a good time to upgrade while you are tearing into the engine. If I could, I would.

I have 1.7rr, I also have AFR 180cc heads with .600" lift springs. I have the stock short block so I don't want to rev past 6400rpm. I want strong mid - top end power. What about LE 226/232? A.I. is too expensive...

Ok so I see that there are two versions of the 230/236. Which is better?
