What the hell Is with all the new members and 383 questions and builds these days .. Anyone else notice?
A budget 383 will run you around $5000+ in just the motor, not to mention the mods needed to use it and put it to the ground. I've been building since feb'11. And there is no "kit" there may be rotating assembly "kits" but that Is just the tip of the iceberg ..

OP i can spec something to what you need.......im in the process of doing a complete shortblock right now thats very strong and im less than that price mentioned above.......a more "budget" minded build can be done pretty cheaply and without cutting corners

$5500??? That seems a little high for just a rotating assembly. I am using Callies and Diamond on my rotating assembly and it was far less than 5500.

Hmmm, I know quick IS the man ..but,... $600 for a 4340 crank,$300 for rods,$400 for pistons,200 to balance it
=$1,500
Heads and caM$ 1000 minimum
=$2500
bore,line bore,hone,clearance..$750 here
=$3200
Lifters,pushrods,roller rockers $500
=$3700
timing chain,crank sprocket,head gaskets $170
=$3870
front/rear,pan,intake,exaust gaskets $70
=$3940
injectors $200
=$4140
tune $200
=$4340
Converter(auto?) $400
=$4740
Fuel pump & reg & oil pump $270
=$4910
Break in back to back oil changes and fluids $80?
$5090
So where does one cut any of this so far on a forged budget build? Buying used parts?? I suppose...... And how about that transmission that will puke next? Then the 10bolt?.....
So much for a "KiT". uncle Sam..., I need my money now? Good thing I don't have an "old lady" u doubt one would've put up with this list LOL!

blocks safe for a 200shot on top of 550-600na hp......i wouldn't be afraid of 750-800hp on it at all...................the magnum is callies flagship forged crankshaft right now.....im running some light rods and pistons though so it was on a lathe before balancing.....keep in mind im spinning a boat load of rpm so the light parts are key to durability and power
