thanks mike, it just drives me nuts when people want to paint their hoopties and never realize how much it actually costs... then you see said hooptie painted by maaco, with all of the wrong prep looking like ***...
but I guess I don't know anything about paint anyways, so let's just let him spray a basecoat with no clear... or use grill paint... whatever. not my problem I was just trying to point him in the right direction.
fyi I like 3m better but it takes a bit more work to get "right" but PPG is pretty damn awesome stuff.

Take this from a guy who LOVES black F bodies and had my SS painted black recently (was pewter). Black is BY FAR the HARDEST color to keep clean I have ever seen in my life..I could go a month without washing my car back when it was pewter..now i'm having to was my car every 2 days to keep it looking good. There is always dirt, sand, road grime that seems to get caught on the back bumber just below where it says camaro and it looks like a sand box on top of the black paint (it's noticable on all colors but more on black!).Nothing looks meaner than a black muscle car..but nothing is harder to keep clean than balck. I'm now looking to be doing an orange such as inferno orange or whatever the orange is the new challengers have on them cause that **** looks sweet and stays looking good for weeks without washing...and honestly how many black F bodies are there already?, compared to how many orange (other than hugger) F bodies?

whatever dude, cheaped out... did it the wrong way, seen it on a nice 50's truck in tx... a year later the paint was oxidizing and looked nothing like what it used to... you need to properly seal the paint.

i see where you guys are coming from and i for sure dont wanna repaint in 5 years... but i also dont wanna spend 5k on one either i was gonna do a macco but do the $1,500 dollar one thats bout what i can afford at the moment, cuz before i paint i gotta get some gears for the rearend its whining and sure as hell dont wanna mess nothin up
PPG satin clear is the cats meow! Depending on your mix, you can change the sheen from flat to something like 60% shine. Nice ****, but I would rather see ya go with some shade of orange...I'm partial though
