No machining necessary. Diameters and thread pitches: 7/16" are 14 pitch thread on the bottom in the head, 20 pitch on the top part, same as the stock ones at 3/8 - 14 pitch bottom, 20 pitch. Stock ones are 7/16" diameter on the bottom threads, 3/8" up top. 7/16" ones are 7/16" top and bottom. ![Nod](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_nod.gif)

lol your right. I was thinking stock heads wth press in studs(don't ask me why. I got a 2 week old baby and no sleep)
Ow and larger studs will cause less deflection with bigger cams and springs!

Correct- if you want to run guideplates (have to with non self-aligning rockers) you'll want to get the 1.90" length, IIRC. The 1.75" won't have the bottom thread depth to make up for the thickness of the guideplates (1/8" thick, about .125" and difference on the stud of .15"). Research this before you buy so you have a complete mental picture of what you're changing in rocker alignment and geometry...
