Default Broken E-Brake Cable - Brake light on

I just snapped my ebrake cable. The brake light on the dash is on. Is there a way to turn the light off prior to fixing the cable?

If I unplug it, will the light go off?

I had the same situation about 7 years ago, I was able to just push the handle down every now and then. If you disconnect the switch it will leave the circuit open, take the top of the console off and put a folded business card between the switch and lever.

I paid 37.00 for the new cable and 30 minutes later it was like new.
