hey guys,
this is my first post here, but i've been searching for info on the LT1 for while now. I was wondering how a stock/bolt-on LT1 will hold up to open track days and the stresses of road racing. i've heard the motors have problems with oil leaks. i'm just looking for some feedback on the reliability of the LT1 if it's put on a road course repeatedly (every other weekend) or autox course. will it hold up without major modifications? if not, what do i need to change? thanks alot,
-Brian

Eh, it could go either way. some LT1s run great and need little maintenance, others will bug you with new problems every month. I'm blessed with having one of the latter...

I got blessed with the former engine description. This thing has been beat to a pulp for 103,000 miles, I can tell because the previous owner had 5 speeding tickets in a year (thank you insurance company) and the gas and brake pedals are SERIOUSLY worn , I have to replace them. But at 103,000 mine leaks nothing and runs as strong as any other Stock LT1 on the streets, so I'm gonna say it's all chance. Good luck!
