Default Head gaskets and bolts

My 383 needs head gaskets, its 12.5-1 with 200 shot. what the best head gaskets and bolts? Seems like you only hear the bad things about certain manufactures, what have you good luck with? Hopefully, with a good tune I only want to do this once, the motor was in the car when I got with stock replacements. Thanks.

Cometic MLS gaskets and ARP bolts. Those two will ensure your heads are welded onto the block if all surfaces are true.

Can u reuse the stock head bolts on these motors or are they one and done? Would a lt1 benefit or any other motor for that matter benefit from using a head stud kit? I would think even at 10.5 to 1 the clamping force would be evenly spread? Thanks

Thanks for advice. I would consider studs, but I'm not pulling the motor.

Not clear on that one? Why would u need to pull the motor for head studs?

Didn't think you could get the head over the studs, once they were installed.

Yes you can put the heads on then thread studs in. There are a couple threads with this info in it, but might be hard to find in the search. Just make sure the block threads are clean and you use sealant on the right bolts/studs..
