Chevy never intended for LT1 lifters to see 7k. You have to keep that in mind.

Am I being naive here thinking I'm ok revving them to 7000-7100 on a regular basis?
Seriously, if I'm leaving something significant on the table running stock lifters, I'm all ears. What are the issues with them?
Judging by dyno plots, afgs readings, and the way it pulls at the top, my valvetrain seems to stay under control all the way to the PCM limit.

I was meaning that you can't adjust them the same way if you know the car is going to see a ton of rpm. With 3/4's to 1 full turn of preload I doubt it would be stable at 7k. It may, but i'm not going to take that chance of it extending and hanging a valve open.

The lifters that I had questioned, was nothing fancy, just the GMPP Hyd. lifters, running at 0 lash, + 1/4.

Sorry Joelster, I missed the context of that discussion.
I'm with you now
I run the stock lifters at 1/8 turn preload.

Why the insistence on taking OEM lifters that high? That's what fast bleed short travel designs are for.

If that question is directed at me, my answer is simply: I didn't feel it was necessary to add cost and uncertainties (ie. non OEM) for my application. Plus, when I put it together, I didn't really think I'd have to rev it to 7000 to get best ET out of it.

I have no problem running to my 7k rev limiter with 1/2 turn preload on my lifters. And LSx guys have no problem turning 7k+ with .060-.120 preload with their setups.

if you have enough spring to control the valvetrain, theoretically more preload will reduce the tendency of the lifter to collapse due to a smaller volume of aerated oil to compress.
