I know, I'm beating a dead horse. But I have to ask, 7.9 amps from a coil?!

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PNX-D3002/

Primary Resistance 0.310 ohms
Maximum Voltage 45,000 V
Turns Ratio 100:1
Secondary Resistance 6.8K ohms
Inductance 3.1 mH
Peak Current 7.9 amps
Spark Duration 1.5 mS

Yea I don't think so. Looks like a stock one to me. No way that could support that amount of amps.

Did you ever get a different coil? I have two of the newer MSD sealed units(one used, one new pn8226). I run a Pro power off a 7AL-3 now. I also have an Dig 6(older model, used pn6520) and the Dig 6AL(new model, never used pn6425) for the LT1.

No. Never changed it. The plan is to swap in autolite AR104's gapped @ .050 with a hotter coil. The Crane coil I have is crapping out and had to decrease the plug gap to stop it from misfiring at high rpm. It worked but I know the bigger the gap the better.

One of the MSD reps recommended the Dig 6AL with the Blaster HVC coil.

I haven't done anything yet cause I'm in no rush.

I'm going to put them all up for sale here in the next week. I can make you a deal on the Dig 6 since it is used, and take a good chunk off the 6AL. The Dig 6 is wired up for a 94 camaro, I soldered and heat shrinked all the connections. I also left all the extra wires on the box, but bundled them up in case you want to run the retard function or a crank trigger/distributor.
