Is there a reverse lockout on an M6?
Thought there was a reverse lockout on the M6. Was cruising along and went too far over when shifting into 5th and bumped the reverse gear slightly. I've never done that before so was just wondering if it might have been disabled by accident. Thanx

prolly a bad solenoid if this is the first time you noticed it. it is possible that you incredidible hulked it past too and didnt notice. its just a deterrent, not a lockout.

Possibly disabled. Make sure it's plugged in.
It's the brass solenoid attached on the left of the shifter housing.
Is it a different PCM? Could be from an auto car. The plugs for the 1-3 skip shift and RL on the harness are basically the same. Make sure those aren't mixed up.

The reverse lockout solenoid is engaged when it has no power. The pcm powers the solenoid to unlock the reverse gate with the engine running and the speedometer below like 5 mph. Above that speed or with the car off the lockout is engaged. The lockout is only an increased spring load to get into the reverse gate...try it with the car off, you should have to push fairly hard to get into the reverse gate. I let my brother drive my car once and he upshifted from 4th to reverse.
