Hey guys I've been trying to scan my car with DataMaster. My issue is that my laptop needed a 9-pin serial to USB convertor cable to connect to my ALDL cable. Now the issue is in DataMaster it says I have no PCM sync. If all the cables are working correctly, DataMaster should be able to start and record, right? Do I need to have the engine running to start the PCM sync or just have the key turned to "on"? I've tried both COM ports in the DataMaster program but still get the no PCM sync message. Maybe the ALDL cable won't connect to the computer through my 9pin/USB cable? Thanks for any help.

I had the same problem, In my case I had to switch to port 4. I think the default Datamaster was trying to use port 1 or 2.

I think I've tried that but I'll give it another shot. I also tried emailing the guy at AKM Cables but have not heard back yet. Grazi, did you also have to use a USB to serial convertor cable like me?
