Default question on doing a stall

Im getting my trans built pretty soon here and im wanting to do a stall, my question is do i need to change my stock gears because they are 2.73's or is that something i can wait to do. Also what is a good size stall to go with the car is a 94 z28 and at most will be full bolt ons with a cam at some point and will not be a 100% DD but will see some good amount of drive time. thanks for the help.

Yank SS3600 Stall and 3:73's and don't look back.

Those 2:73's need to go.

Even with stock stall 2.73s are lazy, and more stall requires higher gearing to keep it from feeling soft down low.

pick a cam stall and ears that will all work together... where do you want to shift at, and make your power... then that is where you pick your stall cam and gears...

so basically i can do the stall now with the trans build and ill be ok but until i get the gears put in i wont see the full potential of the built trans and stall is what im understing here right?

I would love to put it all together right now but i dont have the cash yet, just been slowly getting stuff for the car but the trans has to be done asap cause the car is just sitting. I just figured since im getting it built i might as well do the stall while its being done so i dont have to do it later and pay more.

save your money and do it all at once, no reason to tear it all apart more than once... unless you plan on keeping the 10bolt...

well the car rarely sees the track, mostly just a cruise and a few spirited runs here and there down the freeway. Ill probably end up just getting the trans built this month and ill hold off on the stall until i can afford to get the gears done and a cam as well.

I just have to get it on the road again cause im sharing my spare care with my gf and she stays at home watching our daughter so she has no car.

Since u got the trans out you may as well do the stall. If not u will have to pay for labor twice to pull the trans.. I ran my stalled auto for little while with a 2.73 gears. Didnt have a problem. Mayb try lookin for a rear out 6speed car. There 3.42 gears and can usally get for around $200.

Definitely the Yank 3600 and 3.73s. You can wait on the gears, the only problem I had was getting on the freeway I had to put it in 3rd or I would bog hard. Other than that it drove just fine.

yeah ive never driven a stalled auto or even rode in a car with it done so it is all new to me. So i should be ok if i do get the stall and keep my stock gears until i can afford some 3.73's and have them installed

Yea you should be fine, you just won't get the full effect/benefits of the stall until you upgrade the gears.

You'll be fine, I ran 2.73's with a 3200 converter. Was still a huge gain and tons of fun.
