Default Help spend my $$

I need some help on choosing what my next mods will be, I will have $2500 to spend, with $400 going to a dyno tune. So my options are complete UMI front suspension and have $$ leftover, Weld RT’S with tires, or a Moser 12 bolt rear with 4.10. What would you do? write ins are welcome.

I vote REAR.... no point in making extra power without one...

YES YES, I know people will say, fbodys have made great power and kept the 10 bolt in tact.... however, the odds are against you....

For the same price as a moser 12 bolt you could get a dana 60 or a 9", both of which are much stronger. I vote 9"

S60... or do it backwards like me and get full suspension first... makes for an interesting ride at times with all the adjustments I now have.

I voted for the 12 bolt, but I'd look for whatever you can find a deal on. There are used rears for sale all the time...find one close by that suits ya or someone willing to ship it for a reasonable price.

Well it looks like the people of LS1TECH have spoken, and I hear you. As for why the 12 bolt, my engine builders friend has one setup for the car, new posi, new 31 spine axles and my choice of gears for $1800. I thinks that is a good deal, but if it falls through I will look for a 9in or S60.

That doesn't sound bad. 12 bolts are almost always 30 or 33 spline. Either is plenty strong for most cars, but find out which you are getting in case you need parts later. I'd go for 4.10's since you are a M6. Also, check to see if matches your ABS system, 3 or 4 channel if you care to keep that working.

$1800 isnt bad, but if you are not in a huge hurry and that cash isnt burning a hole in your pocket, keep up with the classifieds and youll find one cheaper. IIRC there is/was a 9" and S60 in there for less than $1800 a couple days ago. You can even find them for as low as $1200 some times, which would save you some money for a torque arm, LCAs and a set of slicks

I could be mistaken on the spine count, it 30 then. I am planning on going with the 4.10s but my builder is trying to talk me in to 3.73.

It’s not burning a hole in my pocket by any means, it’s just nice to have it so close, so I don’t have to deal with shipping. I already have full rear suspension so if I save anything it would go toured a driveshaft and slicks, DR’s.

as stated above..........the dana s60 is your better bet......less money and it is virtually indestructable.......ive been beating the snot out of mine for the past 7 years and its just laughing at me......been down to 1.30' 60's in a 3300lb car........the last thing in the car i worry about is the rear end.....

You have a good point on it being close so you don't have to deal with shipping. There is no way I would go with less than 4.10's with a t56. Even if it were a bolt-on only daily driver.

Call me weird but I would get front suspension first, then save the rest and when you have enough again go for the rear. If the one you have blows to pieces then it's a good excuse to replace it

There should be an option for budget 8.8 build to make your dollar go further.

Well I got a Moser 12 bolt for $1500 shipped, has a posi and 30 spline axles, Moser diff cover, and the best part it only has 500 miles on it. However there is one down side it has 3.73s in it, I’m thinking that I will try it out and if it comes down to it I’ll put some 4.10s in there.
