hey guys newbie here
well after many many months of searching i finally found my first f body. shes a 96 z28 camaro with 101k miles on her. the car has been in storage for about 4 years total, only taken out to go to the woodward cruise in detroit every year. After driving it home from detroit it feels kind of sluggish especially first gear im hoping its just going to be a tune up issue maybe with some old gas still in it although the car seems to be well taken care of...
my goals for this car are to reach low 12s with a full interior and still be able to drive it on the street to take the kids to get ice cream on friday nights , then to the track on saturdays for some fun with my dad and his drag cars. what should i be looking into to get to my goals of low 12s with full interior?? and any idea or recommendations on why the car might feel sluggish?? ( if the tune up doesnt work out as planned)

^ Yea I feel ya,I'm gonna stay away from nitrous when I do my 355 build. But i think..
-Longtube headers
-Cold air intake
-Air foil lol
-stall converter for auto
-3.73 or 4.10 gears,auto and manual
-heads & cam
-52mm Throttle body
-PCM tune
will do ya good for a strong street car and descent strip car..should do good at the strip with some drag radials..

nitrous technology has changed a lot since you were 15, there are many kits out there dead nuts reliable and damn near idiot proof. its a pick your poison, but nothing to be afraid of. i started nitrous and after 3 years went blower. maybe next year blower with nitrous lol

You can get to low 12's with a full weight F-body without getting inside the motor (stock heads and cam) and without nitrous. I ran 12.3's with just bolt-ons in a B-body, lightened but still heavier than you for sure.
Yank SS3600 converter is top on the list for an auto.
Slicks or DR's (you'll need low 1.6x 60 foot times).
4.10 gears for auto, 4.56 for 6spd, since it sounds like this will not be a high mileage highway car.
LT headers and at least a single 3" free flowing exhaust.
Free flow intake.
Electric WP.
Dyno tune.
A 52mm TB will help a tiny bit; the "airfoil" will do nothing.
..Edit: Skip the 52mm TB, unless you get a good deal on one. If you buy new, go straight to a 58mm. Even though the passages in the front of the intake manifold are only 52-54mm, it leaves headroom for more power you may decide to infuse farther down the road, when you can pull the manifold and enlarge the holes to 58mm.

Hey man....swap out your plugs and wires. Best way is to drop the ypipe off and from the plugs from the bottom or top where u can. But drop the Ypipe trust me.
2. Buy cold air intake.
If your going to take it slow stop there you'll feel a diff. Then go to exhaust after.

Welcome to the club.
Do some reading on Nitrous, it is not what you think. Case and point, many unknowing people still think it is flammable. It is the easiest way to good power and if used property no more distructing then other power adders. Progressive with a 100 shot to start, proper injectors/FP and without ripping the car or engine apart you will have your 12's. Dry/wet that is a whole new discussion. Oh an by the way, when nitrous "hits" it's not like the movies, programed in, it comes on steady but not out of control.
BTW, Nice choice on the LT1, we are a dieing breed, there are ls1 engines everywhere. The first time you shut up a big mouth LS1/2/3 owner.... it is an aha moment.
