Rundown of whats happening:
The car will start and begin to idle, and will last about 15 seconds, and then shut itself down. Not in a sputtering kind of way, just as if the key was turned to the off position.

When attempting to start the car again, the engine will continually turn over but will never fire up and idle. If i let the car sit for an hour or so, or unplug the battery for a short time, the car will again start, but only for the 15 or so seconds.

Ive pulled the codes using data master, and this is the issue that im seeing

Shows code 36 in red High res failure? From what ive read, this seems to be the optical sensor failure, but im hoping someone can 100% confirm this.


If this is the case, ill be looking into a replacement. I hear good and bad about nearly every opti out there, so ive been looking at a Delphi replacement, is this going to be my best bet?

Looking forward to any insight or suggestions towards anything at all, if it is the opti or not, and if it is what is my best replacement option.

 

sounds like OPTI but check the opti harness and make sure the connection and the wires are in good shape.

 

Everyone is going to have there own opinion about which opti to use. Right now I have an accel opti and have had no problems with it and I beat the **** out of my car.

 

yea I run a jegs opti with no problems at all.
