Default Dashpad options

Alright have my car all back together except for carpet (waiting on cage install) and dashpad (broke into a million pieces 2 years ago). Carpet i have in a box, Dashpad i don't because OEM units are too spendy. Anyone have a suggestion or source or trick aluminum replacements I can color match? aluminum would be great for easy trimming when the cage goes in...

I'm thinking some .05" aluminum sheet trimmed to fit with velcro would be nice. maybe hit with a bead roller and painted charcoal with matte finish. looks like the sheet is about $75+shipping. I have a black carpet dashmat in the mean time lol

wicked, you just made my day... never thought about an aluminum plate... i can see if this sheetmetal place locally can tackle something like it, if not.. I have a pair of tin snips and a lot of extra time on my hands!

other than that, 6liter eater makes a replacement, at ~ 160

or... I found a custom fit dash cover, for a lot cheaper. (mine cracked over the last year even though it was BRAND NEW)

If you're using aluminum it's easier to work with '0' or T3 temper stay away from T6, it's very hard and works like stainless. Since you're going to paint it have you thought about less expensive sheet materials you could buy locally?

That 160$ option mentioned is just a cover to go on top of the damaged pad (unless I read it wrong)...
Has anyone used one of these types of things? I really dont like the idea of sticking something on top of my dash thats in a million pieces...
I want to get rid of the broken stuff. I'm not handy with metal and will more than likely end up playing with epoxy and the like in order to work with my broken piece.

Wish I knew who made it! CF is strong, light, and no need to paint

I was told it's a VFN, but they said they don't make one. (They "could" make one, but it will cost.)

Whatever kind it is, it's never been trimmed and installed. It was just laying inside the car....as it won't fit the contours of the 93-96 dash. I am either going to sell it or store it away for my 97.
I googled and the only thing I could find was an old (2008) ad on here for one for sale in the classifieds.
