No matter what you do, that 10 bolt will eventually break. You're always better off spending money on a good suspension and rearend before adding anything to the motor. You want it to handle what you're gonna throw at it.

Either 9" or 12 bolt or fab up an 8.8 for a little cheaper route.

My car is being done at CalSpeed and Performance in Bakersfield. (He's putting in a custom rear mount turbo in for me, est ~500+ hp). I am also concerned with my stock rear going. His advice was not to invest in the 10 bolt when we get to these levels. He makes an 8.8 conversion that is pretty affordable. That's what I'll be going with soon. Sooner than later I'm thinking if I blow my rearend on the track.

Give him a call (Jim). 661-387-0403 He's a great guy. Just down the road from you... well 200 miles down the road.

Good luck.

LOL. I know. I'm in Vegas. But he's worth it. Great guy and high quality work. Very well recommended. Tell him Hayden recommended him.

Good luck.

That place is close to me. Do you know how much they are going for? They give to many damn options when buying a rear. I also need one but I don't want an overkill

LOL. For Prices, the best bet is to give him a call.

Overkill - For me, the 9" or 12 bolt would be overkill. The 8.8 is "enough" for what I will ever do with my car. Peace of mind that I do it once and not have to worry about it again, but not dropping an excessive amount of cash into an area (rearend) needlessly.

Good luck. Give him a call.

Take care.

i would always get more than you think you need for a rear, but if you just want to get he car running, junk yard 10 bolt rears can be had for 100 bucks.

Definitely not trying to be cheap but definitely don't need something to handle 1200rwhp. I don't need a 10 bolt either I have 1 extra and I am honestly not going to carry the spare to the track. I just want 1 rear and be done with it. Something that will handle high 9s I don't care about power just that e.t .

Ill just keep an eye out for this thread and suggestions you give the OP. Don't want start a new thread and let hell break lose. Good luck bud.

We only build 8.8" custom rearends in shop (we do not ship / mail order) that we install. Usually they range around $1800-2000 installed for all parts/labor depending on couple options (what posi etc)

8.8" Centersection with Fbody axle tubes - reusing your factory Fbody brakes etc
Custom 31/33 spline axles
Custom torque arm mount setup (to accept any factory style / BMR / UMI etc torque arm
Ring and pinion of your choice
Posi (Ranging from TracLok, Auburn, Truetrac etc)
Master bearing install kit and assembly, fluid etc
Disable traction control / ABS lighting on dash (we are not able to retain traction control etc)

You have two options to handle a 9 second pass. 9in or Dana 60.

EDIT: apparently a 8.8 with 35 splines will run 7s.

dana s60 will NOT break.........uses less power to spin than a comparable iron 9" and is similar in weight ~15lbs to a non-aluminum 9"......ive seen 9's break and ive seen 12 bolts break.........ive yet to see somebody break a dana not related to improper install of a gearset.............ive been running a dana for 7 years now been hammering 1.3x 60's in a 3300lb car on it for a copule years and its never even show a pre-sign of having an issue.......ive installed them in customer cars also and never had one come back.....my vote even though it is a bit "overkill" in some peoples minds is the Strange S60
