Default msd optispark problems

ok i just changed my timing chain not realizing that the msd will reinstall in any direction so now im not sure what direction the rotor should be setting at tdc on compression stroke anyone have any information for me

Doesn't matter where the piston or crank is. Just make sure the opti is indexed correctly.

You don't indicate what car you have, so your indexing method will be different if it's vented or unvented. Vented optis use a pin drive which engages a cloverleaf drive mechanism, the unvented uses a spline drive with a small key.

Also you should have done your research on the MSD optispark as it offers no appreciable benefit over the stocker in both reliability and features, especially at $100 MORE than an OEM.

its a 94 camaro and the msd came with the car its a unvented with the spline ty

It is not supposed to install "in any direction", but it might, if forced. I know the MSD instructions come with clear pics on how to install it.

I didnt get the instructions with the car i have done many lt1 optisparks ive even looked for out of norm splines on distributor

MSD has dowloadable instructions on their website when you don't have the paper ones.
