Advice on heads and cam in a 383!!!
Hey guys What's up? I'm building a 383 LT1. I'm going with a short block from Scogg'in Dickey with a forged Lunati crank, 5.7 Pro Mod rods and SRP Forged pistons. I want some advice on heads and cam....I want to try for 450 rwhp, maybe more if I could squeeze it out. I have someone locally that can tune it and he is supposed to really know his stuff. I hear people talk about Lyod Elliot and his head porting, how do I contact him? I was also thinking about AFR 190 heads fully ported and a ZZ409 cam form TPIS. I really don't know what to go with so any info from you guys would be greatly appreciated....OH! by the way this things still got to be emissions legal.....Unfortunatley I still gotta pass the sniff test, DAMN!!! Virginia...lol.
If you are planning on staying N/A or spraying a 150 shot or less then I would not get the AFR heads. They really aren't worth the extra cash unless you are doing a S/C or ALOT of nitrous. You can make just as much power with a set of well ported LT1 heads .
As far as the cam goes, you won's hit 450 rwhp with that cam. You will prolly have to get a custom grind to hit a rwhp number like that. The CC306 is a bad *** off the shelf cam. You could get in the neighborhood of 430 rwhp with it if the heads are right and the tuning is right.
