Default Hard Starting

Ok So usually in the morning when I go to crank it up I have to hold the key forward for a few seconds before it starts up,but throughout the rest of the day it normally starts perfectly fine,I wanted to know if anyone else experienced this problem and what are some of the things I could check?

wierd I do have the same problem I have a 94 z28, they told me alternator was bad so I got a used one from a friend which pass the alternator test from autozone, starter is fine too so I guess what's left is the battery

And I have a new battery so maybe I need a altenator

My car used to start as soon as the key moved, then I changed the FPR and now it cranks forever before starting. I'm so sad... hehe. I did other things at that time too, but I dont understand why I'm having this issue now.

Sounds like the fuel pump check valve - its not holding pressure in the lines overnight so when you first crank it in the morning, it takes several rotations to start

I was thinking about replacing the fuel pump anyway,I might make this my first step....when I have 3/4's or a full tank of gas it doesn't occur

I have a 94Z as well, that had an issue with starting..... wanted to crank more than it should before actually starting. Turned out my problem was a broken wire in the OPTI spark harness. The break was at a factory bend just off the intake. I was able to unplug the harness from along the passenger side of the intake and the OPTI itself. I bought new connectors from GM and made a new harness. Was pretty simple, 4 wires, a soldering iron and some heat tube! 3yrs later, still works great!

put a gauge on it over night to see what the fuel pressure is in the morning. Then when you hit the key have the gauge pointed in the car so you can see what it is doing when you start it. Just make sure the gauge is on nice and tight and you have no leaks.
