+1 on the exhaust gasket. If an exhaust leak is bad enough it can sound like a knock. Example: I started my car with the front o2 sensors out and my dad who has owned, operated, and worked in an automotive shop for 25+ years immediately thought it was knocking until I informed him that I had the sensors out.

Fingers crossed for lifter... tho if only you could have heard it the other day.... it was so not a lifter. I'm really hoping that theres just something loose somewhere thats vibrating sometimes. Took it out again this morning and it was still making noise when I parked it, and it followed RPMs, but when I was driving, I could get the noise to stop occasionally. Going to pick up a stethoscope today. With any luck I've prolly got multiple things going on and thats why I've been hearing different sounds.
I will be checking the fuel injectors too... anyone whos still paying attention know how the car would do if one or more injectors were shutting off after it warms up?

Its quite possible I have a really big exhaust leak where the EGR goes to the manifold, but I figured if that were my issue that it'd be louder on one side than the other.
