Default Turbo 400 + Gear Vendor Overdrive = Short Drive Shaft

I just got done installing a Gear Vendor Over Drive unit behind my Turbo 400 RMVB/Trans-Braked Transmission. I came across it on accident on Craigslist looking for parts for my van. It has approximately 15,000 miles on it and I got it for $500 so it was really hard to say no, lol! The Driveshaft is out getting shortened to 29.5" to fit! That is extremely short but I have a friend with a Vega with the same set up and his driveshaft has to be even shorter, lol!

I am thinking I will probably need to install some angled shims above the crossmember (like they do on lifted 4x4's) to get a decent driveshaft angle without having to twist my rear axle up too much to reach the magical 2.0 degree angle difference that UMI Performance recommends.

Has anyone else done this mod before? What do you suggest? I have all of the mods listed in my signature.

Take Care,

Joe
