I was under the impression that the 93 intake fully ported with after market rails are the way to go. With the cross over in the back allowed a better flow with less restritions. I may be wrong but I can tell you they do look better.

OK I got my stock intake and TB to go on. I took comparison pics to show why I am swapping back to stock.

See below how I welded up the IAC circuit just to close the holes:

And since the intake was hogged no need for a fancy gasket just made my own:

When I hogged out my intake on the left, I destroyed but also left open the IAC circuit. I had no idea - I was just young and "bigger is better" worked for me back then:

You can see here the leftovers of the IAC port which I did not even plug:

And this is the stock intake, see how the hole in the middle between the butterfly holes doesn't just dump into the intake, it that bump right inside the intake that leads down to an intricate set of tunnels going to each intake port:

In the middle of this picture is the hole in the intake runner where these little tunnels from the IAC go to keep idle.

Because I wasn't using the IAC and just setting idle with the throttlebody blade, I think I was killing the back plugs all the time and really fowling them and causing the car to run like crap. Hopefully this will all solve that. I will keep you posted!

Not to purposely thread jack but I have seen alot of people recommend to just go with the 52mm TB and that the 58mm Tb has even hurt their track numbers... I wonder is this true

I think so. I ran 115mph in the 1/4 NA wiht the stock TB and no airfoil. After monoblade ran 110mph.

Edit: the stock throttle body flows a lot check it out:

Stock TPI/LT1 48mm Throttle Body w/o airfoil -- 783.0 cfm
Stock TPI/LT1 48mm Throttle Body w/ airfoil -- 821.9 cfm
TPI/LT1 52mm Throttle Body w/o airfoil -- 848.9 cfm
TPI/LT1 52mm Throttle Body w/ airfoil -- 898.8 cfm

You can see how much CFM you will need here: http://www.mk5cortinaestate.co.uk/calculator3.php

You need to listen to different people.

How many inches of vacuum were those #'s achieved with? If its the standard 28" then it takes 1psi of vacuum to achieve those flow #'s.

28" - I have no idea what that means.
I found it here:

Anyone hear of rtv'ing the bottoms of the intake runners on all the ports to better seal? Or is that crazy? Just curios I read it on google somewhere.

I should be getting it back together this weekend

So this answers a question I just asked in the other post.

In my experience and those of a few local friends(one gen 1 SBC and a BBC) putting RTV on the Felpro blue intake gaskets will make the silicon bead delaminate so it is specifically bad, on other gaskets it is unnecessary unless maybe your intake doesn't mate up well but I have seen the stock style plastic gasket seal a pretty bad missalignment. A friend had someone associated with TPIS build him a stroker, they decked the block and corrected the intake. Well they had shitily sleeved the block and it failed. When he supplied a second block they did not deck it so the intake mas milled for a decked block and used on an undecked one. The uneven crush to the gasket was plainly visible and it sealed just fine.

Thank you I'll just do it like I always do (no rtv on ports).

All cleaned up and no place to go:

Beads of RTV:

Gaskets:

Almost done:

Now I'm done:

Tomorrow I will re-torque it. And after I drive the first few times I will re-torque it. I had oil coming into 6 and 8 from loose bolts. The face of the intake port on the head and intake was wet when I pulled the intake manifold off, and the bolts on that side were finger tight - I could take them out without a wrench. Oops.

Now O2's, oil change, TB, IAC and ready to rock!
