Default Is my dampner on all the way?

I think im losing it... i keep thinking my dampner is sticking out further thsn it was before the cam swap. There is about 3/16s between the msd opti cap and the back of the balancer. I remember it being closer than that .

If it's seated as far as it can go against the sprocket then you should be good. But, it does look like it is NOT seated all the way.

Is the engine on a stand?

Thanks fex77k, this one is seated also but has the shim behind it. I was almost tempted to pull that shim out.

How does the belt line up on the alternator?

stop that. your taking all the fun out of the guessing.

you can also trq the bolt then take a block of wood and hit it with a bfh and recheck the trq on the bolt. if the bolt turns its not seated.

Terrible idea.

OP - it should be obvious when it is seated fully if you're using an install tool.
