Double roller with stock timing cover, just worked on the inside and used 2 gaskets. No problems at all.

[QUOTE=DVS LT1;16463341]I'm 99.9% certain my engine builder had no problems re-using my old stock timing cover with the 9-3145 Cloyes true roller setup under there.

ya but the guy above you t/a kid did it with the use of a efi 24x reluctor wheel. WHich efi24x says cant happen, which is why they sell the billet timing cover.

With the profile (dished shape) of the 4x GM LT1 crankshaft reluctor and double row timing chain, it will not allow the reluctor to seat against the crankshaft timing sprocket. You would have to put a spacer between the crankshaft timing sprocket and reluctor to move it away from the double row timing chain. And then you get into clearance issues with the timing cover.

From experience, I will never recommend moving the crank sensor forward (two timing cover gaskets will move the crank sensor forward). This has bad news written all over it. If it works for you, then great (but I will never recommend it).

The "bad news" includes...
  • discovering that there is no clearance available with a double row timing set, the GM timing cover, and any reluctor (I've discussed this many times in other posts)
  • phone calls and email from customers who have used a double row timing set and report a no start, no spark condition
  • generally the only installations that have a no start, no spark condition are the ones using aftermarket timing sets that change the geometry that GM designed (in orther words the crank and/or cam timing sprockets are too thick)
  • bench testing to see where the sensor "reads' and does not "read" from the reluctor (again, I would advise against moving the sensor forward)
