Hum... Could try using a little wd40 on one thing at a time and see if it goes away. Start with the water pump drive seal at the timing cover and then the bearing on the water pump and down to the crank hub seal.

Check the alternator could be a bearing going south internal.

Is it an auto or 6speed? If it's a 6 speed it could also be a throughout bearing. Does the sound change if the clutch is pushed in.

i have the same issue after an over-rev last week. thought i spun a bearing, but it is narrowed down to a bent valve, bad guide, or maybe a bad lifter. after warming motor, i ran it at 4000 rpm for 1 minute, noise would come and go, but motor did not grenade.

Sounds like a waterpump going south. Thats if the belt was not on and that noise was still there.
