My TH400 is a reverse manual valve body with Trans Brake and a 3800 PTC converter with a upgraded steel stator. Let us know how it does.
reading this post excited me.........with my 9.5" vigilante lockup converter and 4l60

Issues with possible windage as well.

Yeah the oil pressure guage is acting a little funny, but it comes out of it. Wouldnt it keep dropping pressure?

In looking at the temp gauge, if it is accurate the pressure is great. Just don't like how it drops like a rock at high rpm.

I think what's happening is the pump is cavitating for a second from oil being slammed into the back of the pan. Don't think it's necessarily windage.

Yeah its more a temporary starvation than windage. It will get a new pan when I put a k member on it.

My motor has been doing that exact same thing for about 5 years now.

What size tire are you running at the track? Gonna be pretty close on the limiter aren't you depending on the size tire with that gear....

alright Greg. WHat shifter are you using? any pix or part #
what size stall?
rmvb or not?
what driveshaft?
trans crossmember? if stock or t56 any pix of what it looks like installed in car?

Will the stockish flywheel work with the th400 stall? or a custom one needed?

Jim I'm on a 28" tire at the track, but yes I think it will be on the limiter on motor, not to mention spray. Its getting a much taller gear and light weight spool soon.

Stall hits about 4500-4700 on motor. Specd to go 5200 on spray.

RMVB

Hurst quarter stick shifter.

Custom 3.5" aluminum shaft

Stock T-56 cross member slotted and a ~2" spacer added to raise the rear of the trans where it should be.

I have no useful input, but how do you like it in comparison to the T56? Trying to get my friend with a pretty radical 383 to go TH350/400. I for one love it.

Not much fun for cruising but no doubt faster in a straight line. Sucks to go 55mph at 4k tho.

Should be more fun with a taller gear

Ouch, I hear ya... I had a 3.42 which was around 3,000 rpms at 65ish. Now with the 4.10 it is terrible. Can't wait to see you take a couple cracks at the track

from a T56 you will probably lose 3-4 mph tops..... so 116 will be down to around 112-113.... but on the good side you'll most likely knock off 3-4 tenths.... i did the same thing and car dumped about 4 tenths and lost 3.5 mph.... was definitely quicker in a straight line like you said....

however that is an ASSLOAD of stall for your combo. 4700 NA and 5200 N2O???? holy ****....

For comparisons sake i have an ATI 9" Fuel/blown converter. stalls to around 4200 RPMS. No idea what it jumps to when the nitrous comes on all i know is i'm shifting fast as **** to keep up. And i shift at 7500 RPMS.

So if your **** stalls to 5K what do you plan to shift at??? With 4.30's out back it's gonna climb fast as ****. hope your right hand is ready cause that 1-2 is gonna come in a blink of an eye....

From the videos I have seen of Greg at the track and the stories from the friends that know him he shifted hard and strong with his manual. You gonna be in Douglas this year?

Yeah, I was thinking the same. Curious to see how she does though.
