If you have a healthy stock transmission and plan on using it hard, the Transgo mods, with the CORRECT plate hole sizes and shims installed, will definitely extend the tranny life. The stock shift timing and speed is PATHETIC!
I ran my factory GM tranny for 12 years with the TG kit and Pro-Built recommended settings, about 500 strip passes, ~200 of them in the mid 12's to low 11's in a 4000+ lb car. NO washers in the 1-2 accumulator. Shifts were very quick but nothing harsh. A few roadrace outings too.
You won't convince me an unmodified GM trans would have done that.

In my pickup, the factory 4L60E with the same Transgo mods went to 298k before a slight 2-3 flare blowing the 75 shot through it prompted me to pull it and freshen it. ~50k of those miles were towing 5000-6000 lbs. About 120 dragstrip passes on it, ~50 of them with the 50 or 75 shot. 4900 lbs, running low 13's to low 14's. Again, a stock tranny with no mods just would not have done that.
