Default 6 speed locked in 1st

I posted this in the transmission section but thought maybe this site too.
Need some help, My tranny has a fresh rebuild, the only time that is on it is at the track, with about 4 passes. I have been backing it out of the garage weekly to work on the car, Yesterday was no different, reversed out of the garage, put it in 1st and shut her off. Went to back it up a little more and it is jammed in 1st gear and will not budge. I tried revving the motor, revving and trying to pull it out of 1st the same time and no luck, What the hell happened?

So it will not move while the engine is off either?

Could be your shift finger has jamed. May want to remove the cover to inspect if anything is jammed in there or has fallen off.

This may or may not help; but I've gone through 3 different clutches in my 2 4th gen cars over the years. I've found the symptoms of failure vary differently through my rigorous test regimens lol A LONG time ago I had a kevlar RAM racing clutch (it was a bitch to DD) it only lasted a little over a year about 12K before it took a dump and left the car stuck in 3rd gear....could not move it no matter what; and I wasn't even beating on it before it happened. It could possibly be your clutch...

This happened to a friend in college, the springs in the clutch broke and got wedged and he couldn't get it out of second.

Wish I still had the pics

Clutch is a McLeod twin disk, brand new with only the track passes, even though the trans is stuck in 1st, the clutch still operates like normal, so I dont think it is clutch related..

Bent shift fork? I bent a shift fork on the 2-3 shift once too causing a similar issue....did you miss a shift or manhandle it too hard shifting at the track?

This isn't a clutch issue if the gearshift cannot be disengaged while the engine is off. I had this happen in my '85 Camaro where it became stuck. I don't remember what exactly went wrong, but the trans had to be rebuilt. Something broke and caused the shifter to get stuck between 1st and reverse.

Agreed it cant be the clutch.

Maybe:
Bent 1/2 shift fork
Mangled 1st gear syncro keys
Mangled 1st gear blocker ring

I would pull the shifter and rule it out. Then try to manipulate the shifter rod where the shifter connects, move it front and back. If its still jammed, your fukd and the T56 is coming apart.

I guess I'm the only one so far to post that builds them..

Sounds like a Key popped out of the slot on the 1-2 Slider and it's got it in a bind.

It will have to come apart..
