Default Running Rough

To make a long story short,my friend in his 94 trans am drove his car in the rain a few days ago and went through a puddle and has car idled rough that day,so he let it sit until today and started it up and drove it and it ran smooth for 10 minutes then started to idle really aggressive and when he cuts it off and turns it back on it idles smooth for 2 to 3 minutes then it idles rough again. Any ideas on what we could like at or for to potentially solve this problem?

Probably got water in the opti...maybe try to get the car up to operating temp and hopefully it will dry out after a couple days. If not, opti replacement time

Before I scream OPTI, which I really want to... is it throwing any codes? If it is, OPTI (if I remember correctly) would be Low Res Pulse blah blah... I think it is code 16. 99% of the time, that means you have the electronics in the opti jacked up and a full replace is in order.

If you end up having to do it. Consider installing a new water pump and seals on the front of the timing cover at this time. You are that far into it so might as well.

this happened to me a few weeks ago and i guess the opti or whatever it was dryed itself out. all i did was unplug everything from the opti and let it sit for awhile. have not had a problem since.
