LT1 randomly dies not sure what the issue is... Hi,
Ive been pondering this for a bit now, now and again, my 94 formula will just shut off like i turned the ignition off. when it happens, I put it into neutral, and it starts right back up no problems. First 2 times I thought it was a fluke, but its happened now like 5 or 6 times so it has to be something. It always starts right back up after it has shut off. Any ideas?

Sounds like classic ICM (Ignition Control Module) going bad symptoms. Mine would drive fine; then die 5 mins later.....then not start for 30 minutes; then start up like nothing ever happened lol. Luckily, they are not that expensive. It's most likely that or look at the coil next.

^^ I had the same exact problem and finally figured it out last night. I found out that the wires going to my ignition switch are coming loose and causing the car to randomly shut off. What I did to verafy this problem was lower the steering column and wilgle the ignition switch wires.

I also had the exact same problem. You probibly don't have an engine light on but if you get an OBD 1 code reader you will probably see a code 16 which is the opti Low Resolution failure. When you get this code it shuts off the fuel injection. It does not turn on the engine light, but kills the engine immediately (not fun at highway speeds with an M6). Usually will start right up and drive fine until it fails again. This usually does not give any warning, no miss or stumble just shuts off. I did some research and found that if the sensor does not pick up a signal the the computer thinks the timing chain broke and shuts the engine off. The Low resolution sensor is the cam position sensor. Usualyy have to replace the whole Opti-Spark Distributor.
