Maybe we should post a link to cheif455's last post in the "what is my engine worth" thread. Buying a built car is very often a lesson in how to fix someone else's mistakes.
Sweet looking 95 T/A 383 DISC dynoed 560rwhp ~1,500 street miles, turn key = $6700
@ 35 miles - blown up 4L60E, replaced w/built TH400 Chance convertor = $2500 (ls1tech deal)
replace stock 10 bolt as precaution, 9" with Locker 31 spline etc = $1900 (ls1tech deal)
@ 65 miles - lost Walbro pump in tank (fell apart) new twin set-up = $400
@ 200 miles - after logging and tuning, hear lower end knock, rebuild = $7500
6 pistons were damaged by detonation either from the hack fuel pump job or tune I drove before logging. The piston skirts were hitting the crank counterweights - never checked by pro engine shop w/receipts.
I will stop there......after 35 years building and buying, getting a built car is always a lesson, rarely do you step into a truely well built vehicle, unless you watched the build yourself!
I did get $6700 worth of parts to use during my own build though

In the other thread a guy is upset that we are telling him he would be lucky to get 50% of what he has spent so this post of your's even further backs up what we were trying to tell him.

I guess it would!

I have no illusions that my car, even as much as I have just put in (~$15k)
would only sell for $7500-$8000 to the right guy.
Thus, it is not for sale

History repeats itself, the mid-late 70's Trans Am/Z-28 were worth junk until about 5 years ago. Now nice originals with good options are pulling down good coin. Still, hot rodded '77 T/A is not worth that much, point that the 4th gen won't be worth much for a few decades. And even then only nice originals.
On original topic:
I'll try the fan settings as described and get a 160 stat in this weekend and post up results.
