I did the cc306 and heads at the same time...sounded mean as hell, but pulled like dump truck. It took a lot of other mods to get the car to run decent down low. If I knew then what I know now.....Custom Grind for me! I wanted a mean sounding cam at first but that quickly went away for performance.

Look into the AI 226/234 set-up, it has made great numbers, and I have heard it in person. It sounds great.

"Perform bad"
No power down low and (stock casting) head limited power up high. This will result in a narrow torque curve that would mimic a four banger to some degree. You might also find yourself getting beat on the street or strip by less capable cars. Lack of power down low will also make it difficult to drive just normally on the street too especially with a stick IE: cam surge, bucking etc.

You should consider a smaller cam 22x/23x at the most with a tight 107LSA and you will have a much better performing cam and the sound you want. Tight LSAa and overlap make the lumpy idle sound. 847 and stock castings is just overall not smart.

LOL. I have a GM847 in my 383. Yeah the idle is choppy. Yeah, its a bitch to drive down low, UNLESS YOU HAVE A HIGHER STALL CONVERTER IN THE TRANS. I drive it around DAILY without issue, and those who say its a dog down low are nuts. Sure, it doesnt make a TON OF POWER down low, but no biggie. Peak torque on my setuo with that cam is right around 4300rpms. How are people.saying you need to spin it to 6500 plus when this very website says reccomended shift points for an auto with this cam is 6400???? Its a bit outdated, but this cam is nice imho.
