Ok so I have a 96 Trans am and I just got my computer back from tuning and now when I start my car it dies unless I have my foot on the gas pedal and it didn't do that before. Any idea on what code be wrong. I have the computer tune for the cam ( comp cam 503) and to delete the egr and vats system and air system and then to change the coolant temps. But that's all. It started up and ran by itself before and now I have to have my foot on the gas. Any ideas will help.

P.s. I have only headers on it right now and my exhaust system come in tomorrow. Could that be the problem? It backfires a little bit right now.

Ya I put a new cam and longtube headers and upgrade the valve train. And I got the PCM program for the cam and the longtube headers because there are no egr tubes anymore and the throttle body is stock. But the can started up and ran ok and now the car won't run or idle unless my foot is on the gas

Who "tuned" it? More than likely they are to blame for the tune being off...it happens, a lot.

Could be an assembly problem like valve preload way too tight or a vacuum leak.

I don't think it was a vacuum leak or tit preload because before I had the computer tune I had the car running for a hour or so with no problems so I do yet maybe tune or maybe now. And the tune I got was from lt1 PCM tuning

FWIW...I've had good luck with two separate PCM for less mail order tunes at least as far as driveability and startup, one for a cam only LT1 the other 383 with heads/cam.....gas mileage not so much. If you want a real good tune it's got to be on a dyno but it does cost $$$; my mail order base tune is getting cleaned up at PCM for less the next few days on the dyno, I'm expecting some decent tuning HP gains and better mileage based on my previous results with dyno tuning done after the base mail order tune from my old setup. It was only $110 for a mail order for them....and only like $50 for a re-tune. Several days of LT1 tuning on the dyno runs $600 though. But you get what you pay for like many things.
