I used reccomend using a .026 gasket like mr. gasket part number 5716G or Victor Reinz (dont know part #) they are pretty cheap and work well and will also bump up your compression a little. I have had good experience with them, for awhile I heard they were having problems with coating sticking to the wrap but I never had this happen to me and i've used a couple sets of them on cars with no issues.

Mr. Gasket 5716s would work well (check for de-lamination prior to intalling though). That or OEM Impala gaskets.

the impala head gasket is a thinner stock gasket then an f-body gasket if i remember correctly its in the .030+ range ..its a popular choice to bump up compression and unleash a few more ponies.. just like the others listed above will do... don't use cometic gaskets unless the block and head surfaces are dead nutz perfect. i recommend a fel pro Performance gasket i'm using a felpro 1074 its .039

looked into the cometic they look nice but what sucks is i dont want to let the car sit without the heads on it whiile i wait for headgaskets to be delievered (pulling everything off checking for flatness) want to have evrything ready n do it all in one day..unless there is something i could put on the block pistons etc. when it sits for a cpl days thanks again

I went with the impala gaskets. I don't trust a company that can't seem to package a gasket so it won't be ruined by opening the packaging.

I prefer the Felpro blue stripes(permatorque) series been using them for 25 years with NO failures!
If you use the felpros I do suggest having your heads milled 15-20 thousandths to bump the compression up a bit

I went with the Felpro too. It's a good, reliable gasket. I would rather mill .02 than risk disaster with a thinner gasket.
