You need to learn to evaluate posters before you listen to them.
A quality 2800stall 9.5" converter can be mistaken for stock at low throttle and in many cases modern converters do NOT need additional cooling.

To put this in perspective for you I have taken a stock shortblokc T1 Caprice into the 11s as a true street car at one point it was 208/224duration cam only with 2800 stall 3.42s and wisconsin winter seeing over 20K miles a year and ran low 13s.

The guy who told you what you want to hear has a T56 and a stroker in a 13 second car.

A good friend here in Wisconsin has a heads/cam 3400stall Caprice he drives all year and a 3200stall in his wife's daily driver Caprice, the both use stock coolers.

A 160 stat and lowered fan temps do a LOT for keeping the tranny cooler, just lowered fan temps can keep the coolant 20+degrees cooler at low speeds. Remember there is a tranny cooler in the radiator so cooler coolant leads to a cooler tranny.

I don't always take what everyone will tell me on here to the T. When I have the time I'll go do my own reading from other threads etc etc. But for the whole cooling thing I have some work to do with my car anyway, since I don't think the fans we're working before hand. Just a bit of testing, and ordering a SLP fan switch, not overly concerned about the trans cooler but I do know a day sitting on Woodward for the dream cruise can be brutal for temps all around.

A fan switch is an OK idea for cooling down with an electric WP after shutdown for RACING. For normal use reprogramming the pcm to turn the fans on sooner is a MUCH MUCH better idea.

FWIW the Caprice tranny cooler is so badly located that it gets specific mention in the 4L60e professional tranny rebuild guides, way out in front of the condensor that it is more behind the bumper.
I put a modestly sized aftermarket stacked plate cooler on mine after a tranny failure from a bad rebuild mounted low and tight to the condensor and I actually have to block it in cool weather or the tranny runs down in the 150s which is too cold. I can hotlap a 3800 stall in an over 2 ton car and might see over 190 which is still very safe.

Well the Eagle rotating assembly is close to being paid for, the thing I want to know is what the stock relief is in our pistons? The kit we are looking at right now is the 4340 crank, mahle -5cc pistons, and 6" I beams.
