Default .020 over?

Pulled a spare lt1 that has been rebuilt before and has speed pro cast pistons from what im told they have 245np on the piston i believe. If i remember reading right they are lower compression than stock. So is there any forged. 020 over pistons that arent exspensive as hell just plan on a cam and 150 shot for now.

.020 over pistons? Kinda an oddball choice...the vast majority are .030 over or more.

Speed pro does not make any .020 cast piston...the only one they have is .030 over which is the standard overbore size. Are you absolutely sure they are .020 over?

They do make a .020 over Hypereutectic piston however:

And yea id like to not have to bore just hone and get better pistons unless these are hypers and i could just run a thinner gasket and up my compression.

So you would instead like to gamble a little on a shelf piston matching your existing bore?

Far as I know most reputable engine builders like to have pistons in hand before the final hone.

Pull pistons, check bores, do hone job, gap rings accordingly. Run .020s and win?

Probably because of the 5.7 rod. I offset them with a lighter pin.

Try findimg a good ring for a .20 piston. Its not easy. I bought a block from a guy that had. 20 pistons wanted to re ring it and found its not common at all. Go. 30 and be done with it

Pfft!

I ran 4.020 Off the shelf SRP pistons to 700RWHP. standard .030 rings file fit

.020 gives you options the next time around AND a little extra wall

.020" is not that uncommon, and good rings are very easy to find.

I felt the same way. With file fit rings it's no problem.
