need help asap

ok went out and pulled my console to install an ebrake handle boot....cleaned down the car and wiped the engine compartment down...checked my oil...and went to start the car and.......no guages registering and no cranking....this is the first time ever this has done this....been doing searches and im coming up with either vats or ignition switch......ive torn the dash apart looking for anything that might have come disconnected...checked all fuses......any help or ideas...can an ignition switch go just like that....or vats.....also i can now shift it without pressing the brake peddle which it didnt do b4.....litterally if anyone can give me insight on this i need to try to get it fixed tonight....if possible you can even call or email me direct....585-748-7435...spcearle@aol.com

You did something with the switch for starting the in park only. There is a cable from the shifter that goes to the column.

That would explain the cranking ... But I have no gages check engine lights or anything other than the radio and headlights

Ok don't know what da hell is going on with the car.... Just about to have an anxiety attack with it and she fires up?.... I think the camaro gods just hate me or something... Maybe she just didn't like getting its nose shaved and embl moved and a shifter and ebrake boot from a grand am put on it...lol

if it just started with you doing nothing it sounds like vats mine does it every now and then and i just wait few min and it will start. no gauges just security light and radio does come on.
