so.. on a regular day my car heats up to about 220 230, the fan kicks and it drops to about 200.. seemed high to me so i figured why no do the 160 stat swap..
changed nothing, tried to burp the system, as far as i know i got all the air out.. still running at about 220 230

That's what I figured, just wasn't sure
But here's a new question, what's a good temp to try and keep it at with a tune?
If I had the fans set to kick on at 170 er so would I be stressing the fans by trying to keep it that cool?

now if you mean it doesnt ever cool properly, either air is still in the system or you have a leak (head gasket or otherwise.)

this is where it sits driving around, if I'm sitting it will just uncover the 160#s.
160*t-stat and fans to kick on at...170 and 180? Would have to go look to be sure, but somewhere in there.

I have my fans set at 185/195, I will lower the temps and see what happens. I am thinking the radiator is bad. It was the same way before my engine rebuild. In town or crusing it stays at 175-185, but when I am in stop and go traffic she heats up to 220 or more....as soon as I start moving she cools off all the way back to 175-185

My buddy did this to my LT1. Has a 180 stat, new Griffin 450hp rated Rad and stock fans. All he did was use a 1/16" drill bit and then 3/16" to make them slightly bigger, not my pictures but you can get the idea.

From him driving around in the summer when I was/still am on deployment, he never got over 200 with the a non-reprogrammed PCM for fan kick in temps
