Hey guys.
New to this forum just sold my 5.0 Foxbody for a 94 Z. How much abuse can an LT1 take with 152k miles on her? Bone stock and I have a heavy foot on a daily basis. Been hitting the rev-limiter a few times so far. Not too crazy just when I feel like I need a rush. Changed all the fluids and It has a new acdelco radiator just installed.

I've had my car for 4.5 years and 25K miles. (Its at 112K now) I have been pretty hard on the old girl, not trashing it but I race A LOT and I'm just a fast driver and the car has taken it well. The rearend is the weakest point on these cars but the rest if properly maintained can take it just fine.

I put 50k HARD HARD miles on mine, only hiccup was a couple blown synchros but I bought it with those problems already well on their way from the previous owner. my rear is on its way out but thats only because I drove for 5hrs straight going triple digits

I beat the **** out of my car almost daily, though I do keep up on fluid changes.
Had to have my tranny rebuilt and ran through 3 ring & pinions in 6 years.
130K and the motor still runs very strong somehow.

I wouldn't go so far as to say they are built to handle the power. They were built on an already dated platform from the parts bin. I mean back in the day they were alright for what they cost, but not so much anymore. I would have easily paid a few thousand more if GM would have designed, outsourced, installed a stronger differential instead of the pathetically weak S-10 diff they received from the factory. The one component that I really salute to handle big power is the Borg Warner T-56. Best factory offered transmission ever.

Depends on what kind of noise it is. If it's an actual whine then the gears are probably a bit out of whack, but nothing to be too concerned about unless it is very loud and/or a grind type of noise. The other kind of noise could be a howl which could mean the bearings are frozen and spinning in the races which can lead to catastrophic failure.

GM 10 bolt rears are glass, unfortunately.
