Default cam install help PLUS HEADERS NOW TOO

is it hard to install a cam with the heads still on the car...is it possible...and if so can i change the rockers and springs with the heads still on the car too? just curious right now...looking for information...learning lol thanks guys

how about headers...longtubes in place of mid tubes

Yes you can do a cam swap with the heads on the block, but you will need to remove the intake to get to the lifters. Valve springs with the heads on is another story, but not impossible. Have fun and good luck.

valvesprings with the heads on isnt too bad with Tims Tool, but still a few hour project.

I did my first cam swap not long ago...way easier then I thought. If youve done headers or dropped a transmission..it seriously isnt much harder then that. Just more tedious and you MUST have a torque wrench. Valve springs were probably the biggest pain like everyone said.

everything is doable with heads on, intake will have to come off for new lifters like stated above but to be honest while your at it might as well take heads off, maybe get a small port joba dn replace headgaskets slightly bigger valves, just to get that little more out of the cam, stock heads are going to choke almost any aftermarket cam..

Radiator and A/C condenser need to come out once you have the timing cover off, and that's it for the front of the motor.

also how about headers?? i wanna change my mid tubes to long tubes..pacesetter most likely...is that difficult..i mean i know its a tight space but does it slide right in?

when i put my longtubes on aboue half of my engine was apart and getting the long tubes in was actually a breeze like that.... the hardest part was taking the old manifolds out but if you got mid lengths on there the parts probably shouldntt be as rusted as my stock ones were

Since ur gona have the headers off anyway. You may as well pull the heads off while ur at it. Get them milled and go with .026 heads gaskets also. That bump ur compression up to around 11.1. It wouldnt be much more $ either. Probly gain another 10 to 20 hp.

i just made a new post..i might change the heads...looking for something at a good price that will put me at my goal..nothing too crazy..its my DD,...once every 2 month track runs
