Default huh. interesting.

So I raced a ls1 ws6 the other night. His mods were exhaust, lid and a tune. I have a 1994 camaro A4, 5359000 ptc stall, ligenfelter cai, and it's a 10.5 to 1 383 stroker with stock ported heads and I take, and a gm847. Currently it's untuned... it IS a bIt rich.

We were door to door from 30 mph on up. I don't think I should be happy with this. He has the stock m6 gears.... I have the stock auto gears.

Opinions?

That's about what I would expect from an over-cammed, under-headed and untuned low compression 383 LT1, unfortunately.

A full bolton and tuned LS1 can put down 350rwhp. Put thinner 0.026 head gaskets on it to bring the compression up to 11:1, then get a real tune.

OUCH...id say u got your *** handed to u. A bit rich? Other mods? Injectors? Come on get a tune before u embarrass yourself. Oh to late. JK! Get a tune, rematch!

Your compression should be close to 12.1. With that big cam u need aleast 3.73 gears. Your asking for trouble running on stock tune. Also who ported the heads? If the port job bad that will cost yoy power also.. Im not downin ur car or nothing. Just want to give u a helpin hand..

The port job was good according to the builder. My car has 42lb per hour injectors too. I had the 383 rebuilt last winter, block was splayed to a 4 bolt. When it was taken apart we saw that it had been overheated at some point.... it was missing chunks of the top piston rings, and what was left didn't have much tension on them. With the motor like that, it dynod at 380 rwhp. Now that it's rebuilt, it feels a lot stronger. There is also the possibility that he sprayed on me.... he has a bottle, but he SAYS itnwasnt hooked up..... so I'm not sure.

Of course the builder says the port job was good. He won't knock his own work but unfortunately his "port work" most likely consists of a gasket match and some casting clean-up with a possible valve job.

You are begging to kill that motor by running such large injectors untuned. Do yourself a favor and stop running it until you get a proper tune or those heads will be the least of your problems.

This won't make you feel better, but I used to edge out my buddies auto LS1 with my auto LT1 on the highway. Each car had catback, lid/cold air, and tune only advantage I had was headers. Same gears and everything.

The builder didnt do the port job. It was done before I owned the car. He pointed out the pocket work and the work done in the intake to me. He said that he could do more to them, but the gains would be minimal. We did a valve job, replaced the rocker studs with Arp stuff, put better springs in and cleaned everything up.

It's definitely getting a dyno tune. I don't drive it much as it is, and that was the first time I've got on it since it was rebuilt.
