i guess my ? is , is it worth it to do opposed to a single plane set up, and secondly i understand for NA guy every lil thing counts no matter if its a pound or a tenth, but there really that much to be gained simply by what looks to be enlarging the plenum size ? just curious. I currently have a FI set up but i dont know if ill always be that way. and for great 421 i run a AS&M monoblade and a TSP 102mm maf so i can safely say that im confident these are not choke points for me but thank you.My ? is just between single plane and fabbed intake is there that much to gain there. And for blown ss i dont think anybody said its a poor design i.e. worst than stock its just there has never been proof or any actual difference in design between it and the stock one so basically its not worse than stock but its not better either unfortunately.

LMFAO AT "Stock intake in not the restriction!"

I actually could not say how the Single plane vs modded stock does. I can tell you we picked up 600RPM of clean power on a 402 and 700RPM on a 383. We doubled the plenum size and match flowed them with the 58mm in place. We also raised the roof at the injectors and got the tapper correct.

With a mild cam the 402(396 .060 over) made 447 RHWP Through a 4L60E and a 12 bolt. It peaked at 6,800 instead of the usual 6,200-6,400 we always see. The car ran 11.2s at 3,650lbs all day long.

Not that fastest but it was a true street car in everyway except the roll bar.

This owner moved to a LSx 427 and is now making right at 600 RWHP with his daily driver

Wow that is quite impressive numbers for sure, and yes i know that statement is just a tad ignorant, for me right now it is my restriction and i knew it wld be just always figured i wld replace it when i found one come up on the classified (single plane) but to do new you wld have 1k in it depending on tb. I m one of those guys where i wldnt have a problem spending another 1k or so know that down the line it could pay off. I obviously know there is gains to be made there or places like hogan wldnt be in business very long. Just dont know if i wld evr see the gains my car is a street car still have a/c , however it sees a track twice a year or so. Unfortunately this also means a cage in my future maybe a winter project. sorry to babble on but thank you for ur insight ellis and fex.

Hogans and Marcela cost 3k plus and there is always a wait. I have a super vic on mine now. I have a supervic on it now had to do the usual mods on it and I'm only using the outside 8 holes.

yeah i have heard that, i have a buddy thats actually a very good custom fab guy tig welds just phenomenol so if i were to go that route i wld have him do it. my ? has always been is there that much to gain over singleplane , like ellis says its more than just plenum volume its injector placement, etc. just wondering if its worth the extra grand plus that u would have in it. Im guessing for my FI set up probably not i just dont know if ill stay FI forever. Another ? for u do u run sbc heads w single plane or lt1 heads and change bolt pattern on intake for lt1 heads.

You can just spot face the outside bolt holes. You have to plug the coolant passage or machine it off since it is below the intake gaskets and you will get oil up there.
