Default 97' Ws6 breakdown!!!!

Alright.... first time writing on here.... sooo.
I have 97' Ws6.... a motor out of a 93' Z28 to build for it and i start breacking it down over the next week just wondering if anyone has any good ideas for part combinations for a build that will get me around 400+ horse and roughly 375+ torque....the motor out of the 93' threw a rod out the oil pan so i am doing an "ALL OUT" build. replacing everything..... so if anyone has a good idea on were to find cranks, cams, rods, pistons, and heads more for the performance side please let me know

trying to not spend a fortune on it but willing to spend the time and about $4000 on this build.... please help me find performance parts

At that power level and a blown bottom end 3k aint gonna cut it. Thats if the block escaped destruction. Ive got close to 7k in my engine with me doing alot of the labor assembling it.

If you're doing an all-out build you better have an all-out budget. That $4k will MAYBE cover the bottom end and that's about it.

Forget the procharger. To be done right you're looking at $12k easy since you are starting from scratch (based on your wordage and how you've posted it's fairly obvious you are new to this game and modifications in general).

Try a search because there's at least one or two of these posts just about every week nowadays.

If you only have $4k to play with I would do a stock-type basic rebuild with a cam such as the AI 226/234. Add in all the required bolt-ons and your $4k budget has evaporated that fast. That's not including any drivetrain mods you will (inevitably) need.

4k isnt going to get you very far no matter how you look at it. You can make 400rwhp but a stock shortblock will only take it for so long. There are a few built shortblocks for sale in the classifieds on camaroz28.com for good prices which would be a great place to start if your looking to build some reliable power.

yes i am very new to performance builds.... after some research that i did tonight i think the best option for me is a 383 build.... and i should have the oil pan off tomorrow and find out if this block is even worth anything.... and i see what you all mean when you say $4k aint gonna be enough... thanks for the input!!!!!

No offense but perhaps you should keep reading some more. What made you come to the conclusion that a 383 is the best option?
