Arrow Weekend Mod Update

Well, I thought I would share my big round of Mod's starting Thursday afternoon:

Thursday: Had Borla & Cut-out Installed. Glad I took it to my buddy's exhaust shop. Everything went together pretty easily, passenger tailpipe was a little bent, so we cut out a chunk of pipe re-bent it and it looks perfect. After all the back and forth about polishing the inside of the tips, I am not satisfied, so I am painting the insides black b/c they will just get dirty anyway. As for the sound? A little quieter than I thought with the cut-out closed, but once your on the gas, it wakes up. Pretty happy about that. As for the cut-out, it is just awesome!! Really loud and obnoxious, it screams on my litle stock LT1.

Friday: Disassembles front brakes and K-member. Kind of confused about BMR directions, we didn't have to disassemble as much as they said. Broke a bolt off in the frame. Noticed the rear end was dripping slowly from the MAC cover, pulled it and resealed it with sealant.

Saturday: Installed Areomotive Pullies. Had to clean the crank hub a little, swapped out the alternator pulley, installed new belt. Wish the tensioner was up top like the LS1. Put the new K-Member in place and re-installed the lower A-arms. Swapped the LS1 brakes and Hawk brake pads. Had to modify the brake lines a little to bend into the LS1 bracket. Then bled the brakes. Had to fill the rear end up with the fluid I had plus 1 quart of redline! Hope that is not a good sign, I can't believe it was that low. Hope that isn't the end of my rear end? It wasn't making any noise that I noticed prior.

Test Drive: Brakes are Outstanding!!! Much better than the stock LT1 brakes. Rotor is much larger and the pad itself is considerably larger. Looks great behind the wheels too. I felt an increase in the power even while having all the old suspension pieces and my buddy in the car. Very happy with the exhaust note too. Should have put the switch by the traction control. It is a pain to reach under the dash while driving. Oh well! Must get alignment b/c wheel is totally crooked. We just tried to get the wheels straight so I could get home. Worth to Bolingbrook using side streets! It is a little sketchy over bumps, but once it gets aligned it should be back to normal. Wheels have considerable camber. Looks kind of funny. The new K-member looks awesome, and opens up the accessability a lot. I could see every plug under the car.

Sunday: Took off the alternator to paint it, cleaned up the suspension for pictures, and cleaned the inside of the wheels. Next is the clean up and detailing.

Well, that is all for now, hope to see everyone real soon!

Awesome man, glad to hear about the ls1 brake swap. I'm thinking of doing it myself- how much did it cost you?

That is one of the best modifications I have done! It cost me $250 for the LS1 components off a wrecked car here on the board (Spindles/Hubs/Calipers/Rotors). Be sure to get the ABS leads if possible. New HAWK front pads were $80 and A little beer compensation to my buddy for helping me out.

So figure about $375 including fluids and turning the rotors.

Wow, sounds good. I'm definitely keeping my eyes open for some LS1 donor cars, now...
