Default New fuel pump (complete assembly) now gas gauge is off

So my car died on me while I was driving. Turned out to be the fuel pump. So I take my car to the mechanic and get it all replaced. I go to pick up my car. I go to fill up the car with gas and it "fills" up with 15 gallons??? Hmmmm. So I turn the car on and the gas gauge reads 3/4 full. So i drive and when i come to a stop at a red light the gas gauge goes all the way down to about 1/4 and as i beging driving again the gas gauge goes back to 3/4 WTF..what the hell is wrong with the gas gauge/fuel pump/sending unit? Thanks

When you pulled the pump out there is the two wires for the sender. They operate off resistance, get a meter and see what it is at. Probably making a bad connection, I think it was 5-150 ohms on mine. You might also take a look at the brush that moves up and down on the windings above the basket.
