Default What do you guys do to winterize your LT1 f-bodys?

I only have 150 miles left before the spec 2 clutch is fully broken it after that I'm gonna take it off the road for a few months. I figured I'd just pull the wheels off and leave it up on jackstands for the winter and cover it. Plan on giving a nice polish the ROH wheels.

What is your choice for fuel tank additive so no water accumulates and do you keep it full? Maybe wrap the brakes and spindles up to minimize rust and any salt spray? Unfortunately my wife's truck takes the garage so it'll be outside this season. What are your tricks? Thanx.

Make sure you keep the suspension loaded if you do put it up on jackstands

I'd do all what you listed and buy you a couple cheap tarps and wrap it up good to keep out rodents, cars are really nice homes in the winter. Wrap the underside if you have enough.

start it and drive it when the roads are clear and its decent out. Keep it uncovered and away from trees.

For the higher lift hr and solid roller setups I always back off the rockers for the winter months.

Usually keep it on jackstands, cleaned up. When the weather allows and the roads are dry, I'll get it out to warm up and burn a little fuel. I keep the fuel doped with Sta-bil, and I have yet to have a problem. Also every couple weeks, I'll throw the batter charger on it, just to make sure its up to par.

I know of a few guys that back the rockers off, to relieve pressure off the valve springs.

I have to drain the alky, spray it out with WD40, and throw it up on jackstands.

drove my freshly painted 87 monte ss through 3 or so winters, people thought it was nuts. With more untreated metal and less galvinized, aluminized plastic pieces than say my trans am, it started to show ever so slightly. Im not worried with dailying the T/A though.

Mine goes into a New hightech storage facility so I really dont have to worry AS much about rodents. I just put the stock wheels back and fill the gas tank and put stabil in along with it. Pull the battery and put a cover on it and say goodbye till spring

No such luck here. **** is everywhere during the winter months.

Nice. Left my hawk in the back yard for years only to have chipmunks make my ram air hood their home. Still can't get all the damn acorns out of the hood.

From what I've read, and as said previously in this thread, if you use jack stands then make sure to keep the suspension loaded.

I fill the gas up and throw stabil in, wash the car, vacuum carpet and seats thoroughly, armor all the dash, pull the battery and let it sit on a block in my basement, back rockers off (a first for this season), put it up on wheel dollies, fill tires to max psi, then cover the car with a cheap $20 ebay cover to keep dust off. Then I just have someone help me push the car all the way over in the garage so we can park another car in the garage.. Sometimes I like to put a mouse trap under each dolly... Never had bad problems with mice around my place... Knock on wood...

Sits from around late October to about March. In the spring I just take her off the dollies, remove the cover, and throw the battery in and she starts right up.
