Default Why CAI

Why cant one take and cut out the stock air box exposing just the air filter thus making a Morso CAI look alike? It seems to me if you have a K&N type air filter you will get the same CFMs as any other kit out there. I mean whats so cold air-ish about the 200~ temps under my hood any way. When I think of cold air out side of my engine bay not in it. If anyone has any imput or recomindations would love to hear them

the intake plumbing gets really restrictive around the radiator support, i had a 9" K&n on the elbow like you described.....didnt make much difference

Getting the air filter down into that little "pocket" if you will gets the main flow of air away from the heat soaked engine bay air, thus the cooler air coming in has a pronounced effect.
